Your Credit Union is a member-owned, democratically controlled, not-for-profit cooperative association – a group of people who have joined together to pool their resources to save and borrow from among themselves.
IT IS AN ORGANIZATION OF PEOPLE, NOT OF MONEY!
Members elect a Board of Directors, all unpaid volunteers, who are also members. Each member has one vote, regardless of account balances. Consequently, unlike other financial institutions, Credit Union members have a voice in how the organization is run.
Because it is a not-for-profit cooperative association, Credit Union earnings are returned to the members in the form of dividends on savings and/or lower interest rates on loans.
